Summary and relationship to the curriculum:
All classified positions will strengthen the delivery of instruction in support of the District's mission statement.This position, through health-related prevention, detection and intervention methods, reduces learning barriers and increases opportunity for student academic success.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:

  1. Appraises health status of students and school personnel when acutely ill or injured keeping students, parents and school personnel apprised of developing health situations or medical care. Develops recommendations and implements appropriate accommodations as needed.


  1. Identifies health related issues and assists in reducing potential barriers in the educational setting for all students by participating in Individualized Education Program, and 504 accommodations.


  1. Conducts staff trainings to educate on a student condition, emergency response, medication administration, or medical procedures necessary for the student to access the curriculum.


  1. Provides physician directed health action plans for medically fragile students, as well as, general education students with chronic illnesses. Emergency Health Action Plans are developed for students with potential life threatening illnesses.


  1. Provides standards and recommendations to the school community regarding infection control, using a Standards Based Protocol for all procedures of handling of body fluids.


  1. Assists each school in obtaining the required medical forms for enrollment.


  1. Monitors student needs during general population screening for vision/hearing and scoliosis.


  1. Maintains compliance with state and federal mandates, the Georgia Nurse Practice Act as well as the appropriateness of each non-licensed assistive person assigned by the school principal to assist students in all health related procedures.


  1. Performs any other duties as assigned.


  1. In addition to the assigned duties, one of the School Nurses will be assigned to serve as Nurse Specialist.


  • Assists in the implementation of District health related policies and procedures in compliance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Assists in the supervision of licensed and non-licensed personnel and the identification of individual professional learning needs.
  • At the request of the Coordinator of Health Related Services, or other District personnel, acts as the District's liaison and advocate on health matters with school staff, medical personnel, and community service organizations.
  • Assists in the compilation of any data needed for reports, records, or other required documents.

  1. Education and/or
    Experience:
    Bachelor's degree preferred. Nursing degree and one or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


  1. Certificate or License Required:
    Georgia State License (LPN) or (RN).


  1. Language Skills:
    Must have ability to read and comprehend job specific technical information, simple instructions, short correspondence, memos and position specific manuals. Must have ability to write correspondence and reports. Must have ability to effectively articulate and present information in one-on-one and small group situations.


  1. Mathematical Skills:
    Must have ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole number, common fractions, and decimals. Must have ability to conduct position related data analysis. Must have ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

  1. Reasoning Ability:
    Must be able to facilitate the problem solving processes. Must have ability to synthesize workable options from given facts, and assist in the development of workable solutions.


  1. Technical Ability:
    Must have considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office and other job specified technologies.


  1. Customer Service Skills:
    Must be able to interact effectively with colleagues, administrators, teachers, staff members, students using tactful yet effective skills. Must collaborate well with others and display a cooperative attitude. Must be service oriented and actively seek ways to assist others.

Must serve as a role model to students. Appropriate dress and grooming consistent with established standards required.
Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, and lift. Occasionally, the employee must crouch or kneel. The employee must be able to exert or lift up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Frequent travel involves exposure to traffic and outdoor elements.
Travel to home sites, school sites, and other locations is required.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently working in outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
